John A. Padgett, 87, of Paoli, Indiana passed away Saturday May 30, 2020 at His residence in Paoli. He was born in Paoli, Indiana on April 28, 1933 to John and Pearl McBride Padgett. John married his first wife Jean Hooten and she preceded him in death on
February 28, 1971 and later married Janet Hendrix Weikert on January 1, 1975 and she survives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first spouse, Jean; son Scott; daughter Pamela Weikert; brother Richard “Dick” Padgett and sister Helen Atkinson.

John was A US Army Veteran.

He was a member of American Legion, Warren Brock Post# 69 in Orleans, Indiana and a member of the Paoli Moose Lodge.

John was owner and operator of Padgett’s Service Center and Padgett’s Wrecker Service. He served as a member of the Paoli Town Council for 8 years and a Republican party Precinct Committeeman for many years,  former Operations Foreman for INDOT (Paoli subdistrict). John also owned a bus and drove for Paoli Community Schools.

            Ryan Padgett, Gabrial Drake, Joshua Drake, Brady Chastain, Chris Weikert, Shannon Jan Chastain, Stephanie Drake, Jonathan Padgett, and Logan Weikert.

Great-Grandchildren:

            Jericho Drake, Ayden and Asa Drake, Sawyer Hoffman, and Deacon Padgett.

Visitation for the public will be Wednesday June 3, 2020 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Dillman-Scott Funeral Home located at 226 W Campbell St, Paoli IN 47454. Private funeral services will Thursday June 4, 2020 at the funeral home. Interment will be at Paoli Community Cemetery.

Pastor Steve Stroud will officiate.
