Janet Hendrix Padgett, 78, of Paoli Indiana, passed away on Friday, March 26, 2021 at IU Health, Bedford. She was born in Paoli, Indiana on April 2, 1942 to Gene and Ruth Condra Hendrix. Janet married Dean Weikert in 1971 and he preceded her in death. She later married John Padgett on January 1, 1975.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Dean Weikert, spouse, John Padgett, daughter, Pam Weikert, and son, Scott Padgett.
She was a 1960 Class graduate and Class Treasurer of Paoli High School. Janet was a member of the Paoli United Methodist Church. Janet was a member the Orange County Republican Party where she served many years as Vice Chairwoman. She was a Delegate to the Republican State Convention numerous times. Janet testified before Congress in the McClosky & McIntire 8th Congressional recount.
Janet was the first woman elected as Orange County Clerk and served from 1985-1992 and a Sales Representative for Rainbow Printing in Bedford, Indiana and was also owner of Jan’s Beauty Nook for many years. She enjoyed going to Florida and being a Snowbird. Janet enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Grandchildren: Ryan Padgett, Gabrial Drake, Joshua Drake, Brady Chastain, Chris Weikert, Shannon Jane Chastain, Stephanie Drake, Jonathan Padgett, and Logan Weikert.
Great-Grandchildren: Jericho Drake, Ayden and Asa Drake, Sawyer Hoffman, Deacon Padgett, one on the way also survive Janet Hendrix Padgett.
Funeral Services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at Dillman-scott Funeral Home located at 226 W. Campbell St. Paoli, IN 47454. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 PM Monday, March 29, 2021 and from 9:00 AM until time of services on Tuesday. Interment will follow in the Paoli Community Cemetery. Due to the Corona Virus Pandemic, guests are required to wear a mask and practice social distancing. If you are experiencing any symptoms of illness, such as fevers or chills, cough, shortness of breath, muscle, or body aches, etc., we ask that you do not attend. Thank you for your cooperation.
