Everett F. Hammons of Paoli, Indiana, entered into eternal rest on Friday, August 12, 2022, surrounded by loved ones at Springs Valley Meadows in French Lick, Indiana. He was born on April 23, 1943, in Paoli, Indiana to Kenneth Hammons and Ruia Goodman Agan.
He was preceded in death by his parents and step-father, Gene Agan, and two sisters. Everett married Rosemarie Carnes on November 25, 1967 and together they had two daughters – Kristi Smith and Julie Day – and they survive.
Everett was a member of Syria Christian Church, Paoli Masonic Lodge #119 and Paoli Kiwanis. Over the years, Everett held various jobs at Paoli Jr. Sr. High School, Kimball International, Jasper Rubber Products, Asplundh Tree Service and retired after 25 years from Carpenter Body Works. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving as a specialist stationed in Germany.
Everett was always willing to lend a helping hand – whether it was to family, friends or complete strangers. He was a man of God who served in various roles at the church. He enjoyed gardening, giving tractor rides to all the children in his life, playing his banjo and harmonica, woodworking and tinkering in his shop. You often found him at his favorite breakfast spot giving away his famous wooden trains and trucks to any child he came across.
