Donald Mattox, 72, of Hardinsburg, Indiana, passed away on August 29, 2020 in Hardinsburg, Indiana. He was born March 16, 1948 in Salem, Indiana to Grant A Mattox and Margie M. Silverthorn. Donald, “Don” had a close relationship with his mother Margie. He loved Southern Indiana and lived an amazingly simple life with his companion, Marybeth Smith. Don was just a good old country boy. He loved to hunt, fish, and spend time outdoors and in his shop as he was always on the go. Don was a hard worker, smart, a skilled mechanic, and could work on any engine, whether it was boat, car, or truck. He loved the ocean and lived in Florida from the mid 70’s to early 90’s. Donald was a commercial fisherman during his time in Florida and spent many days on end in the ocean on his boat, “Lamplighter”. He worked at many marinas throughout the years.
Don returned to Indiana and started his own business, Mattox Fiber Glass Repair and continued his work on boats, trucks, and cars. He made many friends along the way between Florida and Indiana and enjoyed spending time with them and his family. He will be greatly missed by his loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
