Jody Slayton-Vice Obituary
Carmelita Jo Slayton-Vice (Jody), 59 of Paoli, passed away on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at IU Hospital in Bloomington, after a short illness. She was born on November 12, 1962, to Jimmy Slayton and Betty Hobson Wilson.
Jody was married to William ‘Bill’ Vice on December 18, 1987, and he preceded her in death. Bill & Jody had one son, Billy Jo Vice who died at birth. Also, preceding her in death were her parents and a sister Wendy Lou Dunn along with her grandparents.
Surviving are two sisters, Jean Shelton & Marie Judd, three brothers, Buddy McCoy, Ray McCoy and Anthony McCoy, her congregation family, several aunts and uncles, a host of cousins and friends, her beloved fur babies and best friend and caregiver Steve.
Jody was a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses in Mitchell for many years and enjoyed discussions of scripture. She had a beautiful singing voice and sang everything from hymns to classic country to funny childhood songs. She liked to sing karaoke with friends and was apt to break into song on a phone call and ask you to join. She also liked to garden, both flowers and herbs and had a broad knowledge base of herbal medicine. Jody loved her family with a full and generous heart and will be sweetly missed.
A memorial service will be held via Zoom by the Kingdom Hall, led by Steve Steuer on Saturday December 11, 2021 at 1PM. Interment will be at a later date at the Paoli Old Town Cemetery.
