Vance Elliott

Vance Elliott, 92, Orleans, IN passed away peacefully on July 11, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born May 24, 1934, in Paoli, Indiana to Olbert C. and Josie F. Riester Elliott, both of whom preceded him in death. He was the last surviving of 10 siblings. Vance married Myra Puckett on November 21, 1953, and she survives.

Grandson: Nathan Elliott

Infant Grandson: Willard Tackett

Brothers: Austin, Robert, Max, John, Russell “Buck”, and Gilbert Elliott

Sisters: Majel Easterday, Margaret Comingore, and an infant sister, Barbara Elliott.

He was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Orleans, IN.

He was in the Paoli High School Class of 1952.

Vance was a trustworthy, respectable and honest businessman. He was the owner of Elliott Hardware and Elliott Construction; and Business Partner in Orange County Concrete and Babcock Motors.

Vance was very active in his community and was a member of the: Orange County ABC Board, Orange County Economic Development Board, Orleans Planning Commission, Orleans School Building Commission, and the Orange County Property Tax Board of Appeals.

Vance was a member of the Orleans Masonic Lodge #153 F&AM for approximately 65 years and previously held the position of Master.

Vance was a loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He really enjoyed teaching them about the farm.

Vance loved nature and was a true steward of his farmland. He took care of every aspect of his property including making sure the wild animals had water during a drought. He used to tap his trees and make maple syrup for the community.

On a rainy day, when he wasn’t doing things outside, he enjoyed reading and playing euchre.

Vance loved square dancing and was an officer of the Spring Mill Square Dancing Club.

He and Myra enjoyed traveling together, going to places like Alaska, Aruba, the Panama Canal, and multiple riverboat cruises.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, July 17, 2026, at Dillman Scott Funeral Home. (226 West Campbell Street, Paoli, IN 47454)

Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM, on Thursday, July 16, 2026, and on Friday starting at 9:00 AM, until the time of the Funeral Service.

Interment to follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Orleans, IN.

Orange County Cancer Patient Services or Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church.
