Terry Rex Nicholson, 74, of Paoli, passed away on Friday, July 25, 2025, at his home. He was born on December 1, 1950, in Bedford, Indiana to Francis Nicholson and Helen Freed Nicholson. He married his high school sweetheart, Brenda Minton, on September 10,1970, and she survives.
Terry graduated from Paoli High School in 1968. He served honorably in the United States Air Force and completed his enlistment as a Staff Sergeant. He graduated from Indiana State University and Indiana University with a B.S., M.A. and Ed.S. in education. He was a teacher, principal and an assistant superintendent. He also coached a variety of school sports.
After retiring from his education career, he was Orange County Recorder for eight years and served as the Orange County Veterans Officer for over five years. Terry also served on the school board of Paoli Community Schools for two terms.
During his time as Orange County Veterans Officer, he had a vision for the creation of a memorial park for Paoli’s veterans. He accomplished that goal in 2024 when the Veterans Memorial Park in Paoli was completed.
Terry had a passion for learning from a young age and never lost that desire for knowledge. He was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds and Cincinnati Bengals.
He attended the Paoli Wesleyan Church.
Surviving along with his wife, Brenda, is his sister, Vicki Pumphrey (Chris), his daughters, Alyx Long (J.T.), Jordan Beck (Doug) and Sidney Bostock. His grandchildren, Oakley Bostock, Owen Bostock, Max Bostock, Jackson Vernon, Dawson Long, Isaac Beck and Ian Beck.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Jerry Nicholson, and his nephew, Kyle Nicholson.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, July 28, 2025, at the Dillman-Scott Funeral Home, 226 West Campbell Street, Paoli, IN.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM Sunday, July 27, 2025, at the Dillman-Scott Funeral Home.
Visitation will also be held from 9:00 AM until the time of Funeral Service on Monday.
Cremation will follow Funeral Service.
