Shelly Annette Hamm

Shelly Hamm, age 61, of Paoli, Indiana, passed away on April 8, 2026, at IU Health Bedford Hospital.

Shelly was born January 26, 1965, in Paoli, IN to Carl Puckett and Wanda Puckett, both of whom preceded her in death.

Shelly Hamm (Puckett) was well educated, fiercely independent woman on the right side of history in all current events; she had a deep concern about civil rights, humanity and equality instilling her principles in all of her work. With help from her best friend, she won a battle against alcoholism, remaining sober for the remaining eight years of her life. Her favorite color was blue. She was a clarinet player and a huge Star Trek fan, particularly the "The Next Generation" era. A beautiful person inside and out. Shelly was a schoolteacher, humanitarian and a social worker for decades before going on disability for health reasons. She loved and cared about people, no matter what their skin color or background was. She understood the value of compassion and cooperation, and spoke of it often. She is survived by her best friend and caretaker, Massimo Antonini.

Cremation was chosen.
