Martha Rose Fields

Martha Rose (Wells) Fields was born October 24, 1938, in Orange County, Indiana, to Fred and Dorothy (Stroud) Wells. Her Dad passed away when she was young and she was blessed with another Daddy, Fred Dollaske, who she loved very much. Martha passed away December 3, 2025, at 11:31 PM at home. She was 87 years old.

On November 30, 1968, Martha married Vernon Fields. They had a blended family after. They shared one son who joined the other children: Martha already had 4 children, and Vernon had 2 sons.

Vernon passed away the morning of December 3, 2025, around 5:30 AM. They passed away the same day.

Daughter: Anita Wellman

Son: Nicky Dale Fields

Sister: Loretta Lashbrooks

Brother: Sherman Wells

Great-Granddaughter: Olivia Curtsinger

Martha worked at various places over the years including Andy’s Restaurant, Essex, Big Wheel, Paoli Shoe Factory, and finally retiring from Joseph Industries in Paoli.

She enjoyed cooking, music, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Martha leaves behind 5 children:

Rhonda Curtsinger (Rick)

Bryan Wellman (Lisa)

Danny Fields (Rhonda)

Rick Fields (Janie)

As well as 16 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins, who she loved dearly.

There will be a double funeral held for Vernon and Martha Fields.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at Dillman-Scott Funeral Home. (226 W. Campbell St. Paoli, IN 47454)

Visitation will also be held on Wednesday morning starting at 9 AM until the time of service.

Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at Dillman-Scott Funeral Home.

Interment to follow at the Mt. Gilead Cemetery.

So I can let just this one slip away.

For surely there’s always tomorrow

To make up for an oversight,

And we always get a second chance

To make everything just right.

There will always be another day

to say “I love you”,

And certainly there’s another chance

To say “Anything I can do?”

But just in case I might be wrong,

And today is all I get,

I’d like to say how much I love you.

And I hope we never forget.

Tomorrow is not promised to anyone,

Young or old alike,

And today may be the last chance

You get to hold your loved one tight.

So if you’re waiting for tomorrow,

Why not do it today?

For if tomorrow never comes,

You’ll surely regret the day,

That you didn’t take that extra time

For a smile, a hug, or a kiss,

And you were too busy to grant someone,

What turned out to be their last wish.

So hold your loved ones close today.

And whisper in their ear,

Tell them how much you love them

And that you’ll always hold them dear.

Take time to say “I’m sorry”,

“Please forgive me”, “Thank you”, or “It’s okay”.

And if tomorrow never comes,

You’ll have no regrets about today.
