Margie L Cheatham

Margie L Cheatham, 89, Paoli, passed away Thursday, December 15, 2022 at Indiana University Health Paoli Hospital, Paoli.  She was born June 11, 1933 to Edgar and Margie Bea Terrell Bishop in Tatham Springs, Ky.

She married Palmer Mattingly Jr and they had four children:  Patricia Lynn, Barbara Jean, Phyllis Kay and Duane Thomas.  They divorced in November 1958.

She married Kenneth Wilson Walls February 11, 1959.  They had four children:  Susan, Ronald, Cheri and Mary and step children Linda Kay and David Wilson Walls.  She then married Larry James Cheatham October 23, 1985 and he survives.  She gained a stepson and three step grandchildren through this marriage.

She was employed by the First Chance Center and The Tasty House Restaurant from 1970 until the fall of 1974.  In 1996 she learned Braille and took classes through the Hadley School for the Blind in Winnetka, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughters Barbara Jean Mattingly Walls, Patricia Lynn Hatcher, and Cheri Elaine Walls, sisters Mina Joyce Bishop McCoskey, Mary Jane Bishop Tulane, and Alma Catherine Bishop Jones, brothers Freddie Dwayne Bishop, Claude Phillip Bishop, Joseph Elmer Bishop, James Harry Bishop and John Wallace Bishop.  Two grandsons also preceded her in death:  David Michael Busick , David Nicholas Busick, along with step children Linda Kay and David Wilson Walls, and Darren Cheatham.

Also surviving Margie are 14 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Monday, December 19, 2022 at the Dillman Scott Funeral Home, 226 West Campbell St, Paoli IN.  Visitation will be held from 9:00-1:00 PM also on Monday, December 19, 2022 at the funeral home.  Pastor Barry Laird will be officiating.
