Karen J. Stands, 84, of Paoli, IN passed away on June 23, 2026, in Salem Indiana. She was born August 25,1941 in Paoli, Indiana to Henry E Gilliatt and Gladys M Livingston Gilliatt, both of whom preceded her in death. Karen married Donald B. Stands on October 21, 1967, and he preceded her in death on November 30, 2022. Also precede in death by Brothers Marvin, Everett, Vic (Barbara), Truman and a nephew Bart Gilliatt.

Karen worked at Shakeburger restaurant in Paoli while attending high school. She went on to a 32-year career in banking, starting at the former Orange County Bank and retiring from Old National Bank. Alongside her banking career, Karen and her husband, Don, owned and operated Stands Photography for 30 years, preserving special moments for families throughout the community. Karen was a member of Paoli Friends Meeting and Phi Beta Psi Sorority and was a proud 1959 graduate of Paoli High School. She enjoyed traveling, attending auctions, collecting angels, and cheering for Paoli High School basketball. Above all, she treasured time spent with her granddaughters.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, June 26, 2026, at Dillman Scott Funeral Home. (226 West Campbell Street, Paoli, IN 47454)

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM, on Thursday, June 25, 2026, and on Friday starting at 9 AM, until the time of the Funeral Service.

Interment to follow at the Paoli Community Cemetery.
