Dillman-Scott Funeral Home John M. Duncan, 90 of Paoli, passed away Sunday July 31, 2016.  He was born January 5, 1926 in Mt. Carmel Illinois to Roscoe Carter Duncan and Edna Elizabeth McRoberts Duncan.  He was preceded in death by his parents.  He was previously married to Edith Ruth Pauley who preceded him in death. He married Joanne Bailey Wood in 1980. He attended First Presbyterian Church in Paoli, and was a Past Clerk of Session: Presbytery of Ohio Valley and a member of Committee on Ministry. He attended New Mexico School of Mines, B.S. in Chemistry (Magna Cum Laude), Purdue University, M.S. in Chemistry and St. Louis University Law School, J.D.  He was admitted to the Missouri Bar, 1968, Illinois Bar, 1968, California Bar, 1970, registered attorney US Patent Office, 1971, admitted to Texas Bar, 1973, and the Indiana Bar, 1989. He served in the U.S. Navy 1943-1946: Served on U.S.S. Nassau, CVE-16, in WWII: American Legion; Veterans of Foreign Wars; and Civil Air Patrol. He was a member of the Newton-Stewart Masonic Lodge #432, Paoli, IN., Scottish Rite, Murat, Indianapolis, IN. and Shrine, Hadi Temple Evansville, IN.  He was President of the Orange County Election Board,  French Lick Board of Aviation, Commissioners, Secretary; Orange County Innkeepers Tax Committee,  Orange County Economic Development Partnership, Director: Orange 2000, V.P., French Lick Hangar Associates, Inc. Secretary; Lincoln Hills Aero Club, Indianapolis Aero Club; Licensed Pilot  with Instrument Rating; Senior Citizens Club, French Lick, IN.  He was also an advocate for Addiction Recovery. He was also member of the Indiana State Bar Association: General Practice Section, Family & Juvenile Law Section; Lawyers’ Assistance Committee; Criminal Justice Section; Public Defender Council; Probate , Trust, Property, & Death Tax Section; Orange County Bar Association, National Network of Estate Planning Attorneys. He retired from Shell Oil Company in 1988 as Manager of Licensing.  He was also a partner in Patoka Lake Village, Inc. (Log Cabin Rental Development), and Attorney of Duncan and Ellis, PC Law Office in French Lick, IN. Survivors include: Wife: Joanne Duncan                       Paoli, IN 2-Sons: Leroy Duncan and Linda              Wood River, IL Jim Duncan and Shon               Carpentersville, IL 3-Daughters: Mary Crouchley and Larry           French Lick, IN Barbara Mathies and Randy        Huntingburg, IN Dona Duncan                                    Phoenix, AZ 2-Step-Daughters: Lori Andrews and Tim                  Winona, TX Lynne Ellis and Tim                        Shoals, IN 2-Step-Sons: Marc Wood and Juanita                  Paoli, IN Neil Wood and Sun                 Huachuca City, AZ 2 Sisters: Betsy Loveless                                  Princeton, IN Clara Kimbro (husband Exall)       Mt. Airy, MD Also surviving John M. Duncan are his caregivers Hope and Carl Dorsett, 19 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins Visitation will be held Thursday, August 4, 2016 at the Dillman-Scott Funeral Home, 226 West Campbell St., Paoli, IN 47454 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM with Masonic services beginning at 6:00 PM, and Friday, August 5, 2016 at the Paoli Presbyterian Church from 9:00 AM until the time the service begins at 11:00 AM.  Pastor Nancy Waters will be officiating the service.  Interment will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Orange County Humane Society P.O. Box 61, Paoli, IN 47454, the Paoli Presbyterian Church, P.O.
