Jerry Essex Sr, formerly of General Motors, lost his battle with COVID19 January 11, 2021. He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend Sandra (Leisure) Essex, 5 kids including Barbara Boyer and husband Rich, Ellie Hendershot and husband David, Sharri Anderson and husband Jack, Scot Finney and wife Jenny, and Jerry Essex Jr and wife Amber, as well as 12 grandkids, 21 great grandkids, and one great-great grandson.

Jerry was a man full of life, often described as ornery. He never knew a stranger and never seemed to meet anyone he could not make laugh. All that orneriness and humor was matched only by an immense love for his wife and family.

Jerry enjoyed woodworking and car shows, bragging about his kids and their kids, visiting with friends, and creative projects for and with grandson Connor. Throughout his years he also seemed to enjoy fireworks mishaps, camping at Sycamore Springs with Sandy, spending time with grandkids, and telling stories of the good ole days.

Jerry leaves behind a legacy of helping neighbors and of turning friends into family. He is loved and missed beyond measure.
