James Kevin Mills

James Kevin Mills, 67, of Paoli, passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2025, at his home. He was born on December 22, 1957, in Salem, Indiana to Darrel and Lois “Jeanne” Butler Mills Stalcup. He married Rhonda Lynn Radcliffe, on March 7, 1980, and she survives.

Kevin was a member of the Paoli United Methodist Church.

He was also inducted into the Springs Valley High School Hall of Fame on July 11, 2025.

Kevin was a member of the Springs Valley High School graduating class of 1976.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in education from Indiana State University in 1980, followed by his master’s degree from Indiana University Southeast in 1984.

Kevin led the Springs Valley Blackhawk football program for 17 years, compiling 101 career victories – the most in school history – and guiding his teams to seven PLAC conference titles and a Regional Championship in 1992. As an assistant coach from 1980-1991, he played a key role in the 1989 squad’s IHSAA State Finals appearance. In addition to football, Mr. Mills coached track and field, leading the program to its first PLAC championship and an undefeated season in 1993.

In recent years, Kevin has remained a beloved figure in the community, service as a color commentator for local Q100 broadcasts of Springs Valley athletics.

Kevin was a devoted husband and father, and in the latter years he thoroughly enjoyed being a grandfather to his six grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, August 15, 2025, at the Paoli United Methodist Church.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM Thursday, August 14, 2025, at the Paoli United Methodist Church.

Visitation will also be held from 9:00 AM until the time of Funeral Service on Friday.

Cremation will follow Funeral Service.
