Herman David Frotscher

June 27, 1929 — April 8, 2017

Herman David Frotscher, 87 of Temple Terrace, FL, died on April 8, 2017. The son of Herman Frotscher and Belinda Frotscher, he was born on June 27, 1929. He was married to Myrna Wilson for 18 years. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, step-mother Rena Frotscher, brother Leonard Frotscher, sisters Elise Sperry, Lloyd Frotscher and son David Lee Frotscher.

He is survived by his ex-wife Myrna, two daughters: Diane Neidhart (Mike) and Donna Rastorfer (Thomas) and two sons: Daniel and Dale Frotscher and his grandchildren: Amanda Frotscher, Abigail, Maggie and Clara Rastorfer. Nephews Robert, David and John Sperry and nieces Deborah Wetzel (nee Sperry), Dana Frotscher, Susan Perry (nee Frotscher), and Gail Dupler (nee Frotscher).

Dave was born and raised in Dayton, KY and spent his adult life in Finneytown, OH and Tampa, FL. He proudly served in the United States Army and Ready Reserves from 1951 until 1956, attaining the rank of Corporal. He was stationed at Fort Knox, KY and was assigned to the 3 rd Armor Division, holding several instructor posts training new soldiers in armor operations.

Dave worked for AT&T and Cincinnati Bell before entering a series of sales and marketing positions until his retirement in 1999. He spent the last 16 years at the Nantucket Bay Community in Temple Terrace, FL where he participated in and led bible studies, devotions, Coffee Times and other social get-togethers. Dave also chaired and served on the Nantucket Bay Residents Committee. As a kidney transplant recipient and a breast cancer survivor, Dave participated in and advocated for those causes.

A strong supporter of youth soccer, Dave spent time advocating for the establishment of youth soccer in Hillsborough county. He also had a lifelong passion for auto racing, from dirt tracks, Daytona and the Brickyard in Indianapolis. Dave enjoyed music and believed it was very beneficial to the mind and spirt. He attended concerts and festivals throughout the Tampa area. He also played the organ.

The family would like to especially thank his very close Nantucket Bay neighbors, friends and management. who provided loving assistance and friendship during the last few years.

A celebration of life will be held on May 20, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Dillman-Scott Funeral Home in Paoli, Indiana.

A celebration of life will be held June 12 at 2:00 PM in the Nantucket Bay community room in Temple Terrace, Florida.
