Evelyn June Roberts Harmon, 85
Evelyn June Roberts Harmon passed away at the age of 85 in Indianapolis, IN. She had resided in Indianapolis for the past 11 years. She passed away on Monday, November 28, 2011. Born June 22, 1926 in English, Indiana to Claude V. and Britta Bennett Roberts. Evelyn was the youngest of six children.
After more than 30 years of loyal service, she proudly retired from U.S. Government Employment: first working for the U.S. Postal Service and then the Soil Conversation Service. Through these work opportunities, she made many life-long friendships. Evelyn was able to maintain a delicate balance of career and family with strength and grace. She faithfully attended and served as a Sunday School Teacher, was a member of the Willing Workers, and was a choir member at Syria Christian Church, Orleans, IN. She loved reading, cooking, baking, homemaking, but most of all she treasured her husband, daughters, and grandchildren. She was the happiest when all of her family was together and she could play Old Maid, bake oatmeal cookies, or plan extravagant Easter Egg Hunts with her grandchildren.
She was a loving and devoted wife to her husband of 63 years, Robert E. Harmon, deceased. She loved and inspired her two daughters and their spouses, Janet Harmon and Claude McNeal, and Kimberly Harmon and Ivan Denton; six grandchildren, Andrew Weaver (Jenny), Benjamin Magga (Heather), Amanda McNeal, Allison Denton, Joseph Denton, and Robbie Denton; two great-grandsons, Conner Jefferson and Gage Christian Weaver and several nieces and nephews and many close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Britta Roberts, and her siblings, Mae (Roberts) Evans, Chester Roberts, Glen Roberts, Julia (Roberts) Lane, and Dorothy (Roberts) Tillery.
