Eileen DeLong, 93
Eileen DeLong, 93, of Jasper and formerly Paoli, died, July 23, at St. Charles Healthcare Community. She was born in Tippecanoe County on November 21, 1920 to the late Ancil and Mary Weibers McKinney. Eileen grew up in Lafayette where she attended St Lawrence Catholic Church and graduated from St. Francis High School. She married Peter Robert (Bob) DeLong on May 2, 1944; they were longtime residents of Paoli and founding members of Our Lord Jesus Christ the King Catholic Church. Bob preceded her in death on March 2, 1979. Eileen worked 15 years for Orange County Division of Family and Children retiring in 1986. She enjoyed many years of volunteer work at the Paoli Food Pantry. Eileen later moved to St Charles Healthcare Community in Jasper where she lived for 6 1/2 years.
Surviving are three sons, Larry (Connie) DeLong of Orleans, Dale (Marsha) DeLong of Cannelburg and Phillip (Debbie) DeLong of Newburgh; five daughters, Roberta (Doug) Wheeler of Bloomington Ill., Susan (Curt) Jacobs of Jeffersonville, Barbara (Steve) Coomes of Boerne, TX, Mary Jo (Gary) McClintic of Orleans and Beth (DeLynn) Goldman of Coralville IA; one sister Virginia Stoops of Indianapolis and one brother, Orville McKinney of Asheville, NC; eighteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on July 24 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Paoli with Rosary services at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at the church on July 25 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Joe Moriarty officiating. Graveside burial services will follow at St. Boniface Cemetery 2581 Schuyler Ave., Lafayette, IN with Eileen’s great-nephew, Father Michael McKinney officiating. Pallbearers will be John Burns, Taj DeLong, Owen McClintic, Eric Coomes, Seth Goldman and Samuel Goldman.
