Earl "Robert" Claxton ObituaryEarl “Robert” Claxton, 70, of Corydon, Indiana, died Friday, April 17, 2026, at his home in Corydon. He was born September 12, 1955 in Banbury, England. He was a retired corrections officer at Branchville Correctional Facility near Tell City, Indiana after 42 years. Robert loved golfing, hunting, fishing, gardening, landscaping, playing pool and cards, his man cave, and a good bourbon and Diet Coke. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Duane Claxton and Barbara Joan Phillips Nicholson; and his twin brother, Earl Richard Claxton. Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Debbie Shanahan Claxton; his stepdaughter, Kelly Gugel; his grandson, Walker Ballard; his brother, Steven Claxton (Sue); his sisters, Cheryl Eickler (Scott) and Julie Hopper (Steve); several nieces and nephews; and his faithful dog companion, Maggie. Robert will have two visitations and funerals. The first funeral will be at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, April 23, 2026, at Dillman-Scott Funeral Home, 226 West Campbell Street, Paoli, Indiana 47454, with visitation before the funeral beginning at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The second funeral will be at 6:00 p.m. Friday, April 24, 2026, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home, 201 North Oak Street, Corydon, Indiana 47112, with visitation before the funeral beginning at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to your local humane society.
