Doyle M Cornwell

Doyle M Cornwell,  66 of Paoli passed away Monday, March 12, 2012 at his residence.  He was born May 12, 1945 in Paoli to Stanley Arthur Cornwell and Bethel Elizabeth Chastain Cornwell.

Doyle retired from the Indiana State Police and then went on to serve two terms as Orange County Sheriff.  After retiring Doyle spent time farming in the Stampers Creek community where he lived.  He was a member of Scottsburg Christian Church.

Doyle had two children with his former wife Terry L Cornwell.

Survivors include:

Longtime companion Carolyn Clements,

Son:          Chris Cornwell of Paoli, IN

Daughter:  Shelly Ray of Orleans, IN

Brother:     Martin S Cornwell of Salem, IN

Sister:        Joyce Ann Keller

5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild also survive.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 15th at the Wellman Funeral Home, 226 W Campbell St, Paoli, IN with cremation to follow.

Pastors Phil Lamaster, Gary Roll, and Tom Bostic will officiate.

Visitation will be held from 2-8 pm Wednesday and after 9am on Thursday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dexter Eickelberger Scholarship fund.
