Charlotte Ann (Kirby) Smelser

Charlotte Ann Smelser, 84, of Paoli, passed on March 27 at Paoli Health and Living Community.  She was born April 25, 1939 in Paoli, IN to Leon and Mary Louise Newlin Kirby, both of whom preceded her.  She married Beryl Smelser in 1958 and he preceded her.  She was also preceded by her great-grandson, Dayton Edwards.

She was a graduate of Paoli High School, Class of 1958.

Charlotte worked at Big Wheel, the Shoe Factory, and Farmed with her husband.

She was a member of Cook’s Chapel Church as well as a member of the Eastern Star.

Charlotte enjoyed being outdoors and loved to go camping and fishing.

She liked to dance and used to go line and square dancing with her husband, Beryl.

Charlotte was a devout churchgoer.

She really enjoyed and appreciated the simple things in life.

After she retired, her favorite thing to do was sit on the porch swing with her husband and just watch the traffic go by their home.

Charlotte left behind lots of family and loved ones, who will miss her dearly.

5 Grandchildren: Kyle Sneed, Joe Edwards, Lori Morgan, Bobby (Ashley) Edwards, and Chris Speedy.

7 Great-Grandchildren: Brooklynn Edwards, Owen Edwards, Tanner Edwards, Adam Morgan, Katie Morgan, Trenton Edwards, and Trey Edwards.

Several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at Dillman-Scott Funeral Home, 226 W Campbell Street, Paoli, IN 47454.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at the funeral home.

Interment to follow at Paoli Community Cemetery.
