Betty Jean Slayton

Betty Jean Slayton, 90, of Paoli, Indiana, passed away November 19, 2025, at Springs Valley Meadows in French Lick, Indiana. Betty was born in Chambersburg, Indiana, to Herman Elbert and Margaret Pearl McPherson Milligan on February 26, 1935, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Paul Lee Slayton on February 5, 1954, and he preceded her in death on October 22, 2008.

Betty was also preceded in death by sisters: Minnie Guthrie, Bonnie Elliott, as well as an infant sister.

Betty was a homemaker but also worked at Travellers in Orleans, Indiana.

Betty was a true caregiver at heart, taking care of many neighbors and friends throughout the years. In her free time, she also enjoyed reading and tending her flowers.

Betty was a strong woman who faced every challenge in her life with courage and dignity, and at the same time, instilled in her kids the importance of family, hard work and doing what is right. She was a kind, caring and giving person who always put the needs of her family before her own. Betty was a true role model and a constant source of inspiration; someone her children will forever look up to. She will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Dillman-Scott Funeral Home.

Interment to follow at the Paoli Community Cemetery.
