Barbara Elizabeth Oakes

Barbara Elizabeth Oakes, 71, of Orleans, passed on May 21, 2024 at her home.  She was born at home on March 24. 1953 in King George, Virginia to Russell H. Mothershead and Saphira Grunberg Mothershead, both of whom preceded her in death.  She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Mickey Wayne Oakes. They married December 14, 1991.

Barbara was raised by her Grandparents, Russell and Bertha Mothershead, both of whom preceded her as well.

Barbara worked for 16 years at Glenview Condominium in Louisville, Kentucky.

She was a former member of the West Maple Baptist Church in Jeffersonville, IN. and a current member of Orleans Wesleyan Church in Orleans, IN.

She was also a member of the Orleans Senior Citizens.

Nothing besides Pepsi and chocolate gave her more joy than taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Barbara was the most happy, fun-loving, and joyful person you could ever meet.

5 Grandchildren:

Harmony Lahue, Tyler Thornton, Jonathon Rakes, Ian Thornton, and Winter Thornton.

2 Great-Grandchildren:

Samara and Carter Watts.

Many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, June 2, 2024 at Dillman-Scott Funeral Home, 226 W Campbell Street, Paoli, IN 47454.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM on Sunday June 2, 2024 at the funeral home.
